GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) — Most teenagers simply look forward to getting their driver’s license for their 16th birthday, but one high school student from Georgetown ISD flew his very own airplane Saturday.
KXAN first told you about Evan Eissler last year in a story about a unique program at Georgetown ISD.
Georgetown students pioneered an airplane-building class; now it’s in 6 cities
The program is made possible through the school district’s partnership with a non-profit called “Tango Flight.”
The organization raises money, buys the kits and then completed plans are sold to fund the next plane.
Evan was in that class last year. His mom says he flew one of those planes out of the Georgetown airport on Saturday morning, and the weather cooperated.
